Shalom from Zion Greetings in the mighty name, which is above all names, the name of Yeshua.
Life has been incredibly full for us since we have last written. With the Israeli 60th birthday celebrations (May 8), the One Thing Israel (May8-10), The Call Jerusalem on the Global Day of Prayer (May 11), the “gentile” celebration of the birthday (May14), the feast of Pentecost (June 9), and lots of wonderful things in between, we have lived through some “heaven-rending” times and events here. I hope you’re getting the message where you are: “the times, they are a’changing”!
The Highways
This is a year we have looked for open doors and new highways. It’s time to break out of old cycles and thought patterns, and move out into new paths. Isaiah 62:10 has come alive for us: “Go through, go through the gates! Make a way for the peoples. Build up, build up the highways, remove the stones, and lift up a banner for the nations!” And so much is happening! As we press in , the Lord is awakening Highway 60 to us (from Nazareth to Beersheva), the Isaiah 19 highway (“ In that day, there shall be a highway from Egypt to Assyria), the Isaiah 35 highway ( “ a highway shall be found there...and it shall be called the Highway of Holiness), the “Silk Road” highway (Is 49: “And my highways shall be elevated….and they shall come ..from the land of Sinim” (China!). There’s the “highways of the Lord” (Is 55: “My (high) ways are higher than your (high)ways..”, and, of course, the “highway to heaven” (Rev 4: “Come up here…!) (see our website, www.comeuphere.com). Open up, open up you ancient doors! Swing wide you everlasting doors of bronze (Is45), that we might possess “the treasures of darkness, the hidden riches of secret places”. Open up, you ancient doors, that the King of Glory may come in! (Ps24)
Praise & Progress Reports
Thank you so much, those of you who have been praying for us (despite our lack of regular newsletters) We’d like to share with you some of our praise reports, and progress reports, to help you know how your prayers are yielding fruit.
* We got a CAR! After about two years of being car-less (after our other buggy was stolen), we now have a zippy little Opal Corsa. It has a few years on it (1997), and a few repair issues, but is generally a blessing, Cars are astonishingly expensive here, but this one was truly the Lord’s provision for us. Thank you all so much who have given towards this forward step (or, drive) for us! Our groaning legs and feet are grateful!
* Highway 60 prayer. You may remember from our last newsletter, we have felt commissioned by God to mobilize prayer and worship along the central highway of Biblical Israel…once called “the way of the patriarchs“, and today’s Hwy 60. This, specifically during the 60th birthday year for the nation of Israel, and praying specifically from Isaiah chap. 60 (“Arise, shine, for your light has come..”) We have been taking weekly excursions, usually with a van-load of fellow worshippers, driving up and down the highway, visiting especially the places of Biblical importance, including the four ancient altars built by Abraham (Shechem, BeitEl, Hebron, and Jerusalem/Mt Moriah); We’ve also visited Nazareth (where the angel Gabriel, and Jesus both announced new and radical shifts coming, as God’s “new thing” was about to break forth…see Luke 1:30-33, and Luke 4:16-21). And also Bethlehem (birthplace of several “new” realities that would affect the entire world : ie the Gentile Ruth joins herself to Israel, returns to the “house of bread” to adopt their God, and meet her kinsman-redeemer; the house of David, a king-priest-man after God’s heart, is established here; and of course Jesus the Messiah, the “One to be ruler over Israel”, who “shall be great to the ends of the earth”, was born there (see Micah 5); And we’ve been to Beersheva, where Abraham dug his wells, called upon the Lord, and lived out the drama of his two sons Isaac and Ishmael. Today it is a place of great promise, and the gateway to the Negev (south) of Israel.
There is no adequate way to convey all the amazing experiences we’ve had along the way. We can only say we have marveled at how the Lord meets us, at the sense that we are truly stirring and awakening ancient callings, and at the growing sense that this is much larger than just praying for national Israel. From Isaiah 60, we see that as Israel “arises and shines”, in fact the nations also “arise”, come to the light of that rising, and rise up into their own destinies in aligning with God’s purposes for nations, and shining with the light of God. Extend this highway south and north, and you have the makings of the Is19 highway (Egypt to Assyria, a “blessing in the midst of the earth”)(see Is27:13). Extend it even further east, and you have a restored “silk road”, historically the first “highway” connecting all of Asia, to the Middle East, north Africa and all of Europe. Watch out where you live , because Asia is coming!
China
We’re going to CHINA God has remarkably opened up the way for us to be in China, and elsewhere in Asia, very soon. We are going to be a part of a Chinese-sponsored, 21 day, 24 hour-a-day, worship and prayer initiative, in Beijing, during the time of the Olympics. The visionary for this said she was grieved as she watched on television the Olympic torch was being run all over the world, being “worshipped” everywhere. She felt the Lord say to her, “Go to Jerusalem, for Pentacost, and I will give you My torch”. She did come, and receive, and returned with a Jerusalem menorah (symbol of the seven fold spirit of God (Is11:1-2; Rev4:5); and that menorah now burns brightly on an altar of worship, in a “house church” , in the heart of Beijing. The worship will arise, preceeding the 08-08-08 opening day of the Olympic Games (and certainly a day of new beginnings!), and by God’s grace, we hope to be a part of it.
We a will also be attending to other “business of the Lord”, in various cities around China, mostly to do with “opening the ancient gates”, and seeing the floodgates of the “back to Jerusalem” movement burst wide open. There is a vision in China, to mobilize 100,000 Chinese believers as missionaries, to bring the gospel of the kingdom right across Central Asia, the Indian subcontinent, across ancient Persia (Iran and Iraq), the Saudi Arabian Peninsula and the Middle East, right to back to it’s place of origins…Jerusalem. This is their time...to arise and shine…and play their part, to see this “great commission” of Jesus fulfilled, see the “fullness of the Gentiles come in, and see the return of the King of glory! Watch out where you live; Asia is coming!
On our way to China, we will be joining John’s parents in Alaska, to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary (!); and after China, we will be traveling to Mongolia, Korea, and Hong Kong, for prayer, teaching and fellowship (remember: this is a year for open doors!) Unless God adds even more to our itinerary (Taiwan? Vietnam? Malaysia?), we will be back in Israel on Sept 7..eight weeks after we leave. Certainly, we appreciate your prayer support for all of the above; for favor and grace, for stamina (!), for the word of the Lord in season that will impart life, break chains of bondage, and release, yes ,even nations into their end -time destinies.
In case you are interested, I’ve included our (tentative) itinerary below. And also, since some of you have asked, I am including our banking information, as to how you can contribute to our travel expenses, even while we are traveling, should you so desire. Again, thank you so much for your interest in, and partnering with, all the strange and unusual things the Lord is doing with us! “Your sun shall no longer go down, nor for brightness shall the moon give you light. But the Lord shall be to you and everlasting light, and the days of your mourning shall be ended” Is 60:20. Praise God for His glorious promises.
